BISA Mission Statement

The Business Information Systems Association (BISA) aims to promote a sense of identity and cohesion among BIS students. Launched in 2005, it is a society for students and affiliates with a common interest in BIS. BISA is committed to serving its members, sponsors and the BIS discipline at the University of Sydney through three key areas:

Vision

In 2011, BISA will endeavor to strengthen its role in enhancing a sense of community amongst business students at the University of Sydney. While the focus will be on students undertaking BIS subjects, this will not be to the exclusion of students in other streams.
A greater effort will be made to ensure students are aware of what BIS is, are familiar with the staff administering the courses and are provided with multiple avenues through which they can ask questions about BIS and its relationship with other subjects.

BISA is an important link between students, and employers.

Students have a desire to secure employment after they graduate that will utilize the skills they have acquired during their study and that will assist them in pursuing their career goals.

Employers such as Deloitte and CBA have a strong interest in hiring high quality students that will give their business a competitive advantage over industry peers in order to ensure their business is successful.

 

In 2011, BISA will continue to function as a supportive bridge between students and employers, fostering relationships of mutual benefit to both parties. By creating valuable synergies with the industry, BISA is helping students forge a career as well as providing a link for professionals to tap into emerging ideas. Ensuring that students are exposed to successful members of the BIS industry opens them up to career opportunities as well as refining their knowledge of current events in BIS. BISA hopes to facilitate an open dialogue between its student members and sponsors.
